Wilpena Pound
Wilpena Pound is a big circle of mountains, like a crater, in the Flinders Ranges. In the middle of the mountains it's flat and people used to farm there. They had to build ladders so their chooks could climb into the trees to be safe from wild animals at night. We went for a walk to a lookout but it was rainy so we couldn't see the tops of the mountains. There is an aboriginal legend that the mountains are the bodies of two snakes.

Pythons!
My favourite thing about Arkaroola was the pythons. There were two
carpet pythons in a big fish tank in the information centre. I visited
them three times. The last time we went they were all curled up together.

Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary
At Arkaroola we went on an 8 km bushwalk (A. Bear came too). Mummy and Daddy said I did really well. There are lots of flies here.
Aboriginal Cave Paintings
We went on a walk to see some Aboriginal cave paintings. I had to climb a big ladder to get up to the first cave. A sign told us what all the drawings mean. The one that looks like an arrow is for a kangaroo footprint. The Aboriginal people use crushed rocks (ochre) to make the pictures. The hand prints they do by chewing up the ochre and spitting around their hand to make an outline - yuck.
Flinders Ranges
Hawker is near the Flinders Ranges, they are a big line of red mountains. We went for a drive into the Ranges and saw kangaroos, emus and these special wallabies called Yellow-footed rock-wallabies. There aren't many of these rock-wallabies around so the people are protecting the environment so they can be happy there.
To Hawker and a great playground
After Port Wakefield we had another long drive and at the end we camped in our big tent at a place called Hawker for three nights. I really like the playground there.
